Jarvis Rail’s EE50 track renewals contract team has risen to Network Rail’s 365- day challenge, achieving an outstanding one million man-hours without incurring a RIDDOR accident. To recognition of this landmark achievement for a track renewals contractor Network Rail presented the team with a gold plaque and a check for £2,000 for chosen charity the NSPCC. Jarvis Rail matched this amount. Staff based at the Crewe and Rugby depots continue to perform on this contract, and are now on the way to achieving 1.3 million RIDDOR free man-hours. Network Rail’s West Coast Programme Director Tom McCarthy said: “In an industry where safety is paramount the importance of contractors rising to the Safety 365 challenge is essential. For Jarvis Rail’s EE50 team to surpass one million RIDDOR free man-hours is testament to the team’s hard work and commitment to safety. With achievements like this it is not surprising that overall Jarvis Rail has one of the lowest AFR figures for a UK track renewals or major projects contractor.” Jarvis Rail’s Operations Director West Coast, Rick Thompson said: “This is an outstanding achievement and is down to the dedication and hard work put in by everyone involved. We are committed to delivering the EE50 project to the highest standards in safety and quality and will continue to do so. Safety is always our number one priority - so a huge well done to everyone involved.” ENDS
