Fastline Freight increasing capacity following launch success

21/07/2006

Fastline Freight is set to increase its capacity only weeks after successfully launching its commercial service between Thamesport and the North East - via Doncaster rail port terminal.

Fastline, a subsidiary of York-based Jarvis plc, is now providing additional wagons to accommodate the increase in container traffic particularly on its midweek services.

Fastline Freight is delivering a high quality cost-effective service attracting existing rail users and those customers who currently use road haulage focusing on the environmental and business benefits of rail. This reliable and efficient service has attracted high levels of customer interest and Fastline is developing a substantial order book going forward.

Jarvis Executive Chairman Steve Norris visited the Doncaster freight team and joined the crew for a commercial run to Rugby.

Steve said: “The launch of Fastline Freight has gone extremely well thanks to the great team effort in getting the service fully operational.

“We have set ourselves the highest standards in service delivery and we’re achieving 100 per cent on-time delivery of containers to customer locations. It’s an excellent start to a service that provides a cost-effective and efficient alternative to road haulage.”

The service’s dedicated freight delivery centre is based in Doncaster in the Roberts Road depot. As part of the service the team are also able to arrange onward road transportation to the final destination.

Fastline’s three class 56 locomotives (56301. 56302, 56303) and FEAB 60ft container flat wagons are based at Robert’s Road, Doncaster where any routine maintenance will take place.
