Fastline Freight ready to launch full service on schedule
31/05/2006
Fastline’s full intermodal freight service between Doncaster and Thamesport is due to commence in June. Fastline’s class 56 locomotives (56301, 56302, 56303) are currently in the final stages of preparation for the full commercial launch. The three locomotives and 24 FEAB 60ft container flat wagons will be based at Roberts Road where any routine maintenance will take place. A Fastline Freight customer service delivery centre has also been established at the depot. Heavy repairs will be completed off-site by specialist contractors. Fastline Managing Director Mike Houghton said: “Fastline’s entry into the freight market is being exceptionally well received.” “The service will target customers that currently use the road for freight, providing an efficient, safe and alternative rail freight service in a growing UK marketplace. Fastline Freight complements our existing competencies in the rail infrastructure market and provides a natural extension to Fastline’s operations.” Fastline has been granted a Track Access Agreement by Network Rail, and Her Majesty's Railway Inspectorate has issued a certificate of acceptance to the Fastline Railway Safety Case permitting freight operations. ends For further information please contact:
