Norris confirmed as chairman of Jarvis plc

The company also announces that Robert Johnson this morning is stepping down from the board of Jarvis plc with immediate effect. Mr Johnson is the chief executive of Jarvis Accommodation Services. Robert Wallace will take over as the head of the accommodation services division reporting directly to Kevin Hyde, the group chief executive. Mr Wallace will take up his new post from 1 July. Mr Johnson will remain with the company through the summer to provide an orderly handover and complete a number of outstanding projects, before pursuing his career elsewhere.

Kevin Hyde said:

“I am sorry that Rob Johnson has decided that he would like to move on, and wish him well for the future. It is typical of him that he has agreed readily to staying on to provide continuity in the handover to Robert Wallace and complete some project work.

I am pleased that we have been able to recruit such an outstandingly well-qualified successor to Rob as Robert Wallace. His knowledge of the construction sector, both in the UK and abroad, together with his background in finance and general management of large-scale complex projects, make him ideal for the task ahead.

I am also delighted that we can announce that the board has confirmed Steven Norris as our chairman.”

Biographical note.

Robert Wallace, 54, was the Deputy Chief Executive for Skanska UK (Kvaerner) from 1998 to 2003. Mr Wallace is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has 28 years experience in the construction industry, both in the UK and abroad. He has held a wide variety of management positions, including 13 years in Hong Kong as finance director for Gammon Skanska. He set up and chaired the construction sector of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, and became the chairman of the Chamber in 1985.

Mr Wallace currently has a number of commercial interests. He has been running his own international business consultancy for the last 18 months covering interests not only in the UK but also the Far East, including the chairmanship of a company listed on the Mumbai stock exchange. He is also the chairman of trustees of a pension scheme.
