Jarvis Rail creates new key role of Engineering Director- Richard Thornton

Jarvis Rail has appointed a railwayman with three decades experience of working on the UK network to the new key role of Engineering Director.Richard Thornton, 50, currently Chief Civil Engineer for Jarvis Facilities, begins immediately in the new role based in York. The post has been created by Jarvis Rail Chief Executive Andrew Lezala to strengthen his division’s engineering competence and sharpen the engineering focus. Mr Lezala said: “As a railwayman of 33 years standing, Richard brings his rich experience to this crucial new position. He will be instrumental in attaining our quest for superior performance and technical excellence.” For the last four years Richard has been responsible for all technical aspects of civil engineering throughout Jarvis’ rail business. He joined the company in 1998, following over 20 years with British Rail. He is a chartered engineer (C.
