Jarvis first obtained approval from LRQA for its environment management system against the ISO 14001 standard in 2001. All Jarvis core businesses are now certified against the requirements of the ISO 14001:2004 Management System standard. This demonstrates the Group’s continuing commitment to high environmental standards, compliance with legislation and our aspiration for continued improvement.

The Group focuses on a number of environmental improvement targets against which key performance indicators (KPIs) are applied to monitor progress. These include but are not limited to:

• reducing emissions of greenhouse gases


• assessing the environmental impact of the Company’s business activities, setting targets and producing reports


• obtaining greater energy and resource efficiency


• moving away from disposing of waste towards waste minimisation, recycling and recovery.

Jarvis has been working with ‘The Carbon Trust’ to reduce energy usage as much as possible, whilst improving our working environment and making the company more energy efficient. Jarvis headquarters in York have been awarded "Carbon Neutral" status.
