Jarvis Rail is the rail engineering arm of the business and is one of the largest rail organisations in the UK employing more than 2,000 people based at strategic locations throughout the network. As an award winning multi-disciplinary contractor, Jarvis undertakes rail enhancement projects, signalling and telecommunications, overhead line and track renewals nationwide to the highest safety standards, in line with our zero accident goal. The business has maintained its position as a major provider of infrastructure works to the UK rail industry not only through the provision of plain line and switch and crossing renewal as one of Network Rail’s chosen track renewals contractors but also through the delivery of some key enhancement projects north and south of the border. Jarvis Rail has an established reputation in the UK for developing cutting edge solutions to railway renewals, improvement and enhancement works, all delivered to exacting and exceptional standards in line with the company mission statement: “to safely deliver a high quality, efficient product to the satisfaction of our customers”. Jarvis Rail is fully engaged working with Network Rail to ensure the delivery of its ‘7 day railway’ initiative is successful in the coming years. This step change in the industry requires a minimum 200 yard track renewal in an 8 hour possession and installation of switches and crossing using modular techniques. Jarvis Rail took significant steps towards achieving this in April 2007 when the modular techniques, designed in house, successfully delivered five point ends in a 54 hour possession at Hunterston in Scotland and in September 2007 when the required 200 yards were installed in the London North East territory. Standards Jarvis Rail’s activities are undertaken against the requirements of documented policies, processes and procedures. The quality and environment management systems are certified to ISO9001:2000 and ISO:14001:2004 respectively while the safety management system is structured to reflect ISO:18001 requirements.
